POCATELLO — Numerous East Idaho churches are planning to commemorate Jesus Christ’s resurrection with special services on Easter Sunday, April 24. Here are few of the many events planned in the area:

    Calvary Chapel Pocatello will hold a Rise and Shout Resurrection Celebration at 11 a.m. at the Stephens Performing Arts Center on the Idaho State University campus. The Easter Sunday service will include special messages, a live band and refreshments for the whole family.

    Grace Lutheran Church in Pocatello is holding several services on Easter Sunday. A sunrise service will take place at 6:15 a.m., followed by a traditional service at 8 a.m., a blended service at 9:30 a.m., and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Each of the services will include communion. The church is located at 1350 Baldy Ave.

    Pocatello First United Methodist Church will hold several services on Easter Sunday. There will be a Men’s Breakfast from 8 to 10:45 a.m., worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m., and a Night of Worship service at 5:30 p.m. The church is located at 200 N. 15th Ave., in Pocatello.

    The First Baptist Church of Pocatello will hold Easter services at 9 and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The church is located at 408 N. Arthur Ave., in Pocatello.

    St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Blackfoot will hold its Easter Vigil Mass at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and its Easter Sunday Mass at 9 a.m. The church is located at 584 W. Sexton St.

    Jason Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Blackfoot will hold several services on Easter Sunday. Meetings include a sunrise service at 6:15 a.m., worship at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and the Methodist Men’s Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. The church is located at 168 S. University Ave.

    The Good Shepherd Catholic Community will hold Easter services throughout the area this weekend. There will be a service at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Montpelier at 8 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, services will be held at Catholic St. Mary’s Church in Soda Springs at 11 a.m.; Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Lava Hot Springs at 1:30 p.m.; and St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Preston at 4 p.m.

    The First United Presbyterian Church of Malad will hold a Sunrise Service at 8 a.m. on Easter Sunday, followed by another service at 11 a.m. The church is located at 75 S. Main St. in Malad.

    Other Easter services for Sunday include:

     First Congregational United Church of Christ invites the community to attend Easter services where members of Idaho State University’s choirs will perform, April 24, 11 a.m. The church is found at 309 N. Garfield Ave. in Pocatello. Following Easter worship, children may participate in an Easter egg hunt on the church grounds, weather permitting.      Easter services will be April 24 for Trinity Episcopal Church, 248 N. Arthur, Pocatello, with the Great Vigil of Easter at 6:30 a.m. Easter potluck breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., and Easter Day services will be at 10 a.m. An Easter egg hunt follows the 10 a.m. service.

     Blazing Grace Church, 690 Pershing Ave., Pocatello, will have an Easter service April 24 at 3 p.m. The nondenominational church welcomes you to join us for worship and fellowship. Bible study is held on Wednesdays.

     First Presbyterian Church, 202 S. Seventh Ave., Pocatello, will hold Easter services April 24. Come celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m., worship will be at 10:55 a.m. All are welcome.

     Gate City Baptist Church, 500 W. Maple St., Pocatello, will hold Easter services April 24 with 9:30 a.m. Bible studies for all ages, 10:45 a.m. worship service, with the Easter message “Cross Purposes.”

     Rocky Mountain Ministries, 845 Hyde Ave., Pocatello, will hold Easter services. On April 24 the services will be at 9 and 11 a.m. There will be a Saturday service April 23 at 7 p.m. Easter egg hunts are held at all services.

     Come and celebrate Easter April 24 at Redemption Christian Center, 1010 Yellowstone Ave, Pocatello. Service starts at 10:30 a.m. with a powerful message by Pastor Tracy Johnson, followed by a Texas-style barbecue, a Jump Room for the kids and an Easter Egg hunt.     The Pocatello Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, which usually has services the first and third Sundays, will meet on a special fourth Sunday this month, April 24, for a service with the Rev. Lora Brandis. Her message is titled “Resurrection and a Basket Full of Chocolates.” The service will be at 4 p.m. in the UCC church building at 309 N. Garfield Ave. Children will stay for this intergenerational service and help celebrate the many meanings of Easter. After the service, there will be an informal coffee hour, with some special Easter treats.
