The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Wasatch Mountains/Idaho portion-

including the cities of Driggs, Dubois, Island Park, St. Anthony, Edie Ranch, Monida Pass, Ashton Hill, Targhee Pass, Pine Creek Pass, Lava Hot Springs, Soda Springs, Mccammon, Fish Creek Summit, Swan Valley, Grays Lake, Montpelier, Georgetown, Paris and Georgetown summit in effect from 5 p.m. this afternoon

to 11 p.m. Wednesday.

* snow accumulations: 8 to 15 inches of snow in mountains above

  7000 ft with 6 to 10 inches below 7000 ft.

* timing: tonight through early wednesday evening.

* winds: south winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 25 mph

  tuesday night into wednesday morning. south southwest winds

  wednesday 20 to 25 mph with gusts in excess of 35 mph

  especially in the mountains.

* impacts: snow...moderate to heavy at times...combined with

  blowing snow will make traveling conditions hazardous. road

  closures on mountain passes are possible. back country

  skiers and snowmobile operators should be prepared for heavy

  snowfall in addition to the current snow pack.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the Eastern Magic

valley and Upper Snake River Plain,  Lower Snake Rver Plain, Cache Valley/Idaho Portion including the cities of Burley, Rupert, Shoshone, Carey, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Rigby, Craters of the Moon, INL Complex, Pocatello, Blackfoot, Massacre Rocks and Preston in effect from 5 p.m. this afternoon to 5  p.m. Wednesday.

* snow accumulations...2 to 5 inches.

* timing...tonight through wednesday.

* winds...south winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 25 mph

  tuesday night into wednesday morning. southwest winds wednesday

  20 to 30 mph with gusts to near 40 mph. the strongest winds will

  be between burley...pocatello and arco.

* impacts...snow...moderate to heavy at times...combined with

  blowing snow will make traveling conditions hazardous. road

  closures in areas of blowing snow are possible.

* impacts...local snow accumulation of 5 to 7 inches is possible

  tonight between 8 pm mst and early wednesday morning on u.s.

  route 20 between picabo and arco. substantial drifting of snow

  is expected wednesday.
