A Nampa man who dealt with the pain of an 8-pound facial tumor for more than 20 years underwent a surgery to remove the tumor and now is in significantly less pain, according to a press release.

Lucas McCulley was born with a rare lymphangioma tumor, and received 24 surgeries by the time he was 10 — all unsuccessful. This left him with multiple health problems and in almost constant physical and emotional pain.

Last year, McCulley was featured on the show “The Doctors,” which connected him to a New York surgeon named Gregory Levitin.

Levitin led a five-hour surgery to treat McCulley’s tumor, and said it was probably the most challenging case he had ever encountered.

After a long period of recovery, McCulley said most of his pain has gone away. Lucas’ mom Sheri said, before his surgery, McCulley used to take up to 100 Ibuprofen a week, and now he does not take any.

“It’s a just a whole different world,” McCulley said in a report from “The Doctors.”

“Not having that weight on you is completely different. … It’s something that I never thought would happen, and it happened.”
